Product detail

Welcome to the magical wonderland of Ardmore ceramic art where . . . G is for Goose Birds abound in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll seemed to have a fondness creating interesting birds and bird-like creatures to help spin his fascinating tales. The African goose is a massive bird. Its heavy body, thick neck, stout bill and jaunty posture give the impression of strength and vitality. Its name is not indicative of its place of origin. It seems to have arrived in North America on ships that traveled around the world so its exact origin is ambiguous. It is known, however, that the African is a relative of the Chinese goose, both having descended from the wild swan goose native to Asia. "It was high time to go for the pool was getting quite crowded with the birds and animals that had fallen into it; there were a Duck and a Dodo, a Lory and an Eaglet, and several other curious creatures. Alice led the way, and the whole party swam to the shore". From Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. This fantastic teapot would be right at home on the table for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. I can just see the Dormouse curling up beside it for warmth! Beautiful colours and uniquely rendered shaping make this one-of-a-kind piece truly unusual.
